How to choose between a lone working safety app or a dedicated device?
It can sometimes be hard for specifiers to decide between a dedicated device or a personal safety app on their mobile phone. Our latest lone worker blog discusses some useful considerations.
Choosing the right personal safety solution for your employer can take time – particularly if you are specifying a safety requirement for many lone workers or have a wide range of lone working personnel with a mixture of job roles.
Different employees will also face varying degrees of risk, based on their job role. A worker’s risk profile, perception of risk, and day-to-day tasks will influence their preferred solution.
Most specifiers will be aware of solutions featuring both dedicated lone worker devices (often of varied form factors) and of personal safety applications that workers can be equipped with, or download (typically for Android or iOS mobile handsets).
Personal safety applications:
It is true to say that canvassing your colleagues for opinions and involving them in the process is often a good idea. Opinions will often vary but understanding whether a dedicated device or safety app is more fitting for your team(s) can be a key consideration.
Lone working apps are often seen as a cost-effective solution for employers (particularly if you have already introduced the compatible mobile phones), they are easy for users to engage with, and something that can be flexible to move up from, if needed.
Trialling a lone worker system to help inform or challenge initial feedback is also a good way to understand how the solution employed affects its adoption and ongoing usage.
This month, SoloProtect is delighted to announce an updated version of "SoloProtect Mobile", available for both Android and iOS users, to join an updated product range, complementing the dedicated devices within all SoloProtect solution tiers.
