SoloProtect Proud National Personal Safety Day Sponsors
Safe as Houses: National Personal Safety Day - Wednesday 5th October 2016
National Personal Safety Day, which is organised by Suzy Lamplugh Trust, is an annual event aimed at highlighting some of the simple, practical solutions that everyone can use to help avoid violence and aggression in today’s society. It’s about helping people live safer, more confident lives and lone worker specialist SoloProtect are among the official sponsors for this years’ campaign.
Personal safety is an extremely important issue to the Suzy Lamplugh Trust; Suzy Lamplugh was a British estate agent who disappeared, while working alone, in July 1986 and shortly after, her parents formed the trust. Since then they have worked tirelessly to keep people safe from violence and aggression and to offer counselling and support to the relatives and friends of missing people.
Personal safety is also hugely important to SoloProtect and in fact it was after attending a Suzy Lamplugh Trust event that Craig Swallow, SoloProtect UK Managing Director, first got the idea for Identicom, a discreet lone worker device.
‘The Suzy Lamplugh Trust is extremely close to my heart; after one of their events in 2002, I first hit on the idea for the original Identicom Lone Worker Device. Since then, our cause has remained the same – to help others to improve their personal safety, and particularly for SoloProtect, when they happen to be working alone - as Suzy was.’
Consequently, personal safety, high levels of service and user engagement are all key elements of a SoloProtect lone worker solution.
The market-leading Identicom is the only lone worker device specifically designed as an identity cardholder in order to be easy to wear and discreet to use. At the push of a button, a trained SoloProtect ARC Operator is listening to, and recording, a potentially abusive or violent situation on your behalf. If necessary the call will be escalated in line with what is an appropriate response - including alerting Emergency Services more efficiently than a 999 call (one level higher, via a URN direct into a regional Police control centre).
The SoloProtect lone worker solution is fully focused on speedy, discreet personal safety; in a genuine ‘Red Alert’ situation, every second counts for your lone worker. SoloProtect ensures a discreet alarm call is made immediately upon button press – connecting that call is our first priority. We record, listen and assess, often within seconds, then escalate an incident appropriately. We keep you the employer, updated and provide a full, written report after the incident has been resolved.
The SoloProtect Identicom device is fully manufactured in the UK and has a UK Customer Support team working closely during the initial set-up and implementation stage, meaning disruption to the customer is minimised and time is saved.
SoloProtect are proud supporters of the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and in 2015 they announced their corporate partnership; as a result of this, the trust financially benefits from every sold SoloProtect lone worker solution.
Throughout its 30-year existence, the Suzy Lamplugh Trust has been helping and supporting people by delivering free safety tips and managing the National Stalking Helpline. It’s also been at the forefront of education: training individuals and organisations in personal safety via open access courses, publishing guidance and providing workplace support and consultancy. As well as this they have been working in partnership with other charities, private, and statutory organisations, to raise awareness and influence policymakers.
The Trust continues to work to improve safety for all workers through education, support and campaigns such as the National Personal Safety Day. They’re also running the ‘’Right to be Safe’ appeal which aims to help young people to lead safer lives.
