If you manage a team of home workers, community personnel and/or lone workers then safety is probably high up on your agenda.

Maybe you run a team of community nurses, carers, plumbers or estate agents, or you manage a retail outlet with unsociable hours and staff that have to close up at night? Whatever your job role, it’s important to carefully consider the risks.

But is now the right time for you to invest in a personal safety solution for your team or business? There are many important things to consider before making a decision, such as what kind of risk factors your employees have, how easy it is for you to quickly communicate with them, and how quickly and discreetly they can raise an alarm in an emergency, to name just a few. Well, to save you some time, we’ve done some of the hard work for you.

Take a look at our Team Assssment and simply answer “yes” or “no” to the 21 questions listed. Then, use our easy scoring system (see below) to identify whether a personal safety solution is something that you should be considering.

Team assessment scoring

  • < 50 points

A result of less than 50 suggests you probably don’t need to consider a personal safety solution for your team at the moment.

Next steps?
Just because you don’t need a personal safety solution for your team at the moment, doesn’t mean that you won’t need one in the future as your work, team and business evolves. Having run through the Team Assessment, you should have a clear indication of the type of things you need to consider which may increase risk. • 100 + points

If the Team Assessment gives you a result of over 100, you, as an employer, have a significant responsibility to protect your workers, particularly due to the amount and type of lone working being conducted across your team. Reducing risk to personnel via a personal safety solution should be considered – particularly for ‘high risk’ colleagues.

Next steps?
With the level of risk faced by your team, it’s likely that you already understand the implications of failing to protect your workers, particularly in terms of fines, penalties, reputational impact, staff turnover and absenteeism.
