Lone Worker Alarms
SoloProtect is a leading provider of Lone Worker Alarms in the UK, helping you keep your lone workers safe. Easy to use, quick to implement.
A SoloProtect lone worker alarm is a discreet, wearable safety alarm designed to protect your lone workers from risk e.g. violence, intimidation, abuse, slips, trips and falls.
But our range of lone worker safety alarms is only one aspect of the SoloProtect lone worker system. The lone worker alarms are supported by SoloProtect's state-of-the-art Alarm Receiving Centre which means we can deliver the fastest possible response in the event of an emergency. You will also receive access to our Insights platform for easy user onboarding, training, lone worker reporting, and more.
How does a lone worker alarm work?
The video below explains how our lone worker alarms work:
Three core functions of the SoloProtect lone worker alarm solution are:
1. Red alert: In the most serious situations, if a lone worker feels they are in danger or they’ve had an accident, for example, they can discreetly raise an alarm called a "Red Alert" at the press of a button on their safety device.
The “Red Alert” opens a discreet one-way call with SoloProtect’s Monitoring Centre (or "ARC") where trained operatives can quickly locate the position of the user, listen in to the live situation and decide on the next steps. This could be alerting the emergency services or calling the user’s designated alarm contact.
Take a look at our blog: Panic alarms: traditional vs monitored.
2. Check-in: The "check-in" functionality allows a lone worker to leave a voice note containing details of their current location and situation. This contextual information is particularly useful if the user is going to a location that they know presents a safety risk. This is because, in the event of a Red Alert or Man Down Alarm occurring, the information could help to ensure our ARC has all the information needed to act as quickly as possible.
3. Incapacitation (Man Down Alarm): An "Incapacitation Alarm" can be deployed automatically if the lone worker alarm senses that the user is incapacitated. This is device dependent and based on tilt, non-movement, acceleration and/or impact.

How can a lone worker alarm help me manage my staff?
At SoloProtect, we provide more than just lone worker alarms. Our SoloProtect Insights platform is the power behind our solution, helping you to efficiently onboard your colleagues, manage resources effectively and quickly report on incidents and usage:
1. Quick and simple onboarding
Insights ensures that lone worker alarms are easy to deploy across your business or team. You can allocate devices, manage alarm escalation contacts, and train users of the equipment through the platform’s simple onboarding process. You could be set up and ready to go within a matter of days.
2. Efficient people management
Access "Latest Location" information for your users to efficiently redeploy colleagues to new jobs or to confirm a delivery has taken place, for example. And use the "Working Status" functionality to both manage resource and to check whether a lone worker has made it home safely after a shift or appointment.
3. Detailed, effortless reporting
No more manual reporting. Insights can do it all for you.
Clearly understand lone worker alarm usage levels across different teams and where additional training may be required.
As well as this, you can access all alarm reporting, including audio relating to genuine Red Alerts. This means you can easily review serious incidents to inform your response. You may also wish to use this for legal purposes, or for internal training and best practice.
Why invest in lone worker alarms?
The HSE reported that, in Great Britain, 111 people were killed at work between April 2019 and March 2020 and, according to RIDDOR, there were 65,000 non-fatal injuries reported in 2020. To put it into financial terms, this amounted to a loss of 6.3 million working days at a cost of £5.6 billion.
All employers have a duty of care towards their employees to ensure risks are appropriately considered and safety and wellbeing is made a priority at all levels. Everyone deserves to return to their family at the end of a working day.
This is why there are significant financial penalties for not protecting lone workers. But it’s not just about fines. Culpable individuals can also be subject to imprisonment should the worst occur, and reputational damage in these situations can be catastrophic.
Investing in lone worker alarms goes some way toward protecting your people and your business from risk. But it’s not just about this. Lone worker alarms have also proven to reduce absenteeism, boost staff retention and they can help you to recruit the best people. Why? Because staff feel more safe and secure at work.
Should I invest in lone worker alarms for my business or team?
A lone worker alarm is particularly useful for anyone who works alone and/or may often face intimidating or aggressive behaviour at work. However, personal safety should be a consideration for all.
At SoloProtect, we have users from a diverse range of industries including retail, social housing, healthcare, utilities, facilities, and transport, among many others.
