SoloProtect Trials what3words

SoloProtect is trialling the use of what3words to provide additional location information to our Monitoring Centre and, subsequently, the emergency services. The what3words reference will supplement the geolocation data received from SoloProtect personal safety devices.

In the event of a genuine incident, the device users can activate a Red Alert at the press of a button. Our operators will then be listening in to the situation within an average of 4.6 seconds and will have verified the seriousness of the situation and initiated an appropriate response in approximately 41 seconds. A what3words reference will help to confirm the accuracy of the user’s location and will ensure our Monitoring Centre operators can communicate this location to the emergency services as efficiently as possible.

what3words has divided the world into 3-metre squares and given each square a unique reference made of 3 random words and is, therefore, used by 85% of police forces, ambulance services, and fire crews across the UK. what3words references are particularly valuable in remote areas such as farmland, parks, and coastal regions, or large venues such as shopping centres, stadiums, airports, warehouses, car parks or racecourses, where a general address or postcode may not be precise enough.
